It’s definitely a good time to be Disney. The company enjoys some big time success with its movies as of late. Now Toy Story 4 joins the billion dollar club.
This means the latest installment in the franchise officially reached $1 billion in revenue. It’s a great result, especially with the slower-than-expected start. And as a result it helped Disney set a new record.
The company is the first one to have five billion-dollar movies in a single year. And the year isn’t over, yet!
Toy Story 4 is also the 4th Pixar movie ever to reach $1 billion in ticket sales. As for this year, it joins quite he line-up of billion dollar movies by Disney: Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel Aladdin, The Lion King.
The previous record holder had 4 Billion-dollar movies in a single year. That record holder was… Disney. It was set in 2016. And now Disney has the potential to reach seven or even eight billion-dollar movies in a single year.
We still have Frozen 2, Malficent and a new Star Wars installment to look forward to this year alone. All of this is crazy. It’s even crazier that it happens in a year when we also have the top grossing movie of all time: Avengers: Endgame which currently stands over $2.79 billion. In total the Disney movies this year have brought the company $7.67 billion and counting. Yowie Wowie.
