Disney and Pixar have just announced a new schedule for the release of several new movies. Toy Story 4, Cars 3 and several other movies are delayed.
Toy Story 4 was originally slated for a release in the early summer of 2017. Now though it has been pushed back to 15th June 2018. The script is confirmed to focus around a love story between Bo Beep and Woody. How would that pan out though is unknown and that’s good. It leaves more suspense for the real movie.
Toy Story 4 will have a big challenge in front of it. It will have to stand ground and make a decent financial return since Toy Story 3 was the third highest grossing animated film of all time. The Minons are the second highest grosser and Frozen is the ultimate leader.
The third movie in the series of Cars also got a new date. It will now premiere on June 16th 2017. The movie script is almost done but by its first draft. Director Brad Bird says to TVNewsroom that the script had to be redone several times in order to keep the landscape and the feel of the movie. So Cars fans should be relaxed – the movie should keep with the theme and look and feel we all love.
In November 2018 Disney will debut the movie Coco as well. On June 21st, 2019 the Incredibles 2 will debut in the cinemas. Pixar is slated to have three new movies in 2020. The company is keeping them in secret for now. It is only known that one of them will be the first of the new Marvel movie series.
Disney and Pixar aren’t saying why they are delaying the movies. Logic dictates the companies want to get them right and perhaps they have too much popular franchises on their plate right now, which makes things a bit time consuming.
It also means that new themed toys and stuffed animals, which were bound to take over the toy market will now also be delayed. Given the huge popularity of Star Wars at the moment though, this doesn’t seem like that big of an issue for most.
