The Teddy Bear Posse is a regular charity event which once again it’s under steam. The event is in need of new stuffed animal donations for children in need.
The latest “edition” of the Teddy Bear Posse will be in Central Wisconsin. People can give stuffed animals at several drop-off locations.
The stuffed animals will go to local law enforcement and fire departments in the area. Emergency response teams will then keep a couple of stuffed animals in their vehicles.
The Teddy Bear Posse is here to help
The stuffies will be given to children in need or distress. Policemen and firemen often come across such children. Hence, they know first hand how big of an effect a stuffed animal can have on them. Stuffies bring some much needed comfort to a tough situation and help children cope better with the event.
“I’ve been on situations where I’ve had children who are crying, and we try to cope with them after we deal with the situation”, Stevens Point Police Officer Brian Brooks says to WSAW.
This year Midwest Communications is teaming up with the Teddy Bear Posse. Midwest Communications radio stations, 550 WSAU, along with the sister stations 95.5 WIFC, 101.9 WDEZ, Rock 94.7 will help. Also, Fox Sports Radio AM 1390 and FM 93.9, will collect stuffed animals until September 12th. After the 12th, the animals will be given to law enforcement to distribute.
The R Store, People State Bank, Frontier Communication, and Tradition Cleaner are also drop-off locations.
“We recommend new stuffed animals, but will take lightly used ones as well,” Midwest Communications promotions and events coordinator Leanna Holzem said.
