The Stockton Heat hockey team held the first Teddy Bear Toss event of the year. Or maybe one of the last this hockey season. Either way, it was great to see.
A total of 8502 fans were at Stockton Arena which was a season high crowd. Pretty much all of them were carrying at least one stuffed animal for the Teddy Bear Toss.
The first goal came with a little more than 4 minutes left in the first period. Matt Frattin scored the goal against the Bakersfield Condors.
This sent thousands of teddy bears and stuffed animals onto the ice. Last year the Teddy Bear Toss collected a total of 8231 stuffed toys.

This year the toys might be even more. The official count is still not out. “I really is a great event,” said Stockton’s Mike Perry, 57 to RecordNet. “I brought eight this year, including a Mickey Mouse. It’s just a good time, and you know a child is going to get them and enjoy them.”
In the end the Heat lost 6-3. Even so, fans were still happy to participate in the event and bring some much needed joy to kids in need.
