The Hatchnimals are interactive new stuffed animals. They come in mystical eggs which the owner has to hatch first.
You won’t know what type of stuffed animal you will get. You will find that out after the new toy hatches. This can be done with some careful caressing and responding to the sounds from the egg.
The Hatchnimals enjoy unexpected success
The Hatchnimals are often described as a new type of Tamagochi. You have to take care of the stuffie as it grows. You will have to teach it new stuff, play with it.
The toy might not grow physically, but it will grow in character. Each new stage will unlock new features and character quirks.
The toys were quite widely expected for a long time. In the UK they are sold out at Tesco and The Entertainer Toy Shop. Also, the Hatchnimals are selling out at other major retailers.
The demand has been described as “unexpected”. “The consumer response to Hatchimals has been extraordinary, exceeding all expectations. Some of our first shipments have already sold out. While additional product will hit retail shelves in November, we anticipate this inventory will also sell out quickly.”
“We have increased production and a whole new batch of Hatchimals will be ready to hatch in early 2017. This is a special season and we don’t want anyone to be disappointed, nor do we support inflated prices from non-authorized resellers. We are working on creative solutions to help kids and their parents withstand the wait. In the interim, some retailers are developing pre-sale and/or rain-check programs for redemption in January. We will continue to update with program details as they become available.” This is the statement from the Hatchnimals site.
