The fourth annual Noble Toy Drive is now underway with the goal to collect as much toys and stuffed animals as possible for children in need.
The toy drive is a joint effort by Tiffany’s, the Noble Fire Department and Discover Church. The campaign will continue until December 10th.
The organizers ask the people who want to donate, to donate money instead of toys. This will allow the firefighters and Church volunteers to buy specific toys which the children want.
“In conjunction with the firefighters and Discover Church, we were able to touch more than 130 children last year,” Tiffany’s Gary Hicks said to the Norman Transcript. “That’s a bunch and that’s more than the past few years.”
Last year donations reached more than $5200. They were split with $1,700 going to Noble firefighters’ efforts and $3,500 to Discover Church. They buy toys and clothes and shoes for the children in need in the community.
The Fire Department’s goal is to provide Christmas gifts of clothing and toys to children and families who may struggle to provide those items for Christmas morning. “I know I speak for all of us at the Noble Fire Department when I say that the generosity of the wonderful folks of Noble reaffirms for each of us that we serve a great community,” firefighter volunteer Jarrid Matlock said. “Through those people, we see that goodwill is as strong as ever … it just doesn’t always make the headlines.”
