Collecting stuffed animals is more than a hobby for some people. The Teddy Bear Artist Invitational in Binghamton is showing some fun pieces and dioramas over the next few days.
The Teddy Bear Artist Invitational will be taking place over the weekend in DoubleTree Hotel in Binghamton, Binghamton homepage reports. The event will continue for four days and will showcase the creations of over 40 artists and collectors from all over the country.
They will show their diorama sets including teddy bears and other stuffed animals. Some will show you teddy bears on bikes and ready for the road. This year the theme of the Teddy Bear Artist Invitational is “On The Road Again” so most sets and dioramas are following this topic.
“It’s an evolution of the teddy bear that you hug and you love into an art form. And, as you can see, art pieces”, artist Darlene Allen says. The handmade pieces are more than simple toys, she says.
The event is open from this Saturday from 10 a.m. Admission is 6 dollars. Part of the proceeds will be donated to the Binghamton Zoo at Ross Park to support its endangered species program.
Visitors will be able to purchase some of the stuffed animals and the pieces artists have created with them. The participants will also be on hand to share tips and techniques to collectors who want to make their own diorama sets and pieces.
