Christmas is coming up and various charity events are begining. One of the biggest is Operation Selena. This year it willl donate thousands of stuffies to children in the US.
Operation Selena started a couple of years back. It is a way to cheer up sick children with a gift in the form of a stuffed animal.
During the years the initiative has grown. Now it reaches thousands of children in the USA.
There are more than 5500 stuffed animals in the home of Gloria Pargas, one of the organizers of the event. “They’re here. They’re in the garage. They’re in my breakfast nook. They’re upstairs,” she said about the mounds of toys that are in her home, FOX 29 reports.
All of the toys will be shipped in December to 18 hospitals, shelters and other locations with children in need. All of the toys are donated.
The initiative is an idea of Selena Pargas. Two years ago her cancer went into remission. She still remembers the effect a stuffed animal she got as a gift in the hospital had on her. So she wants to spread the love and give as much stuffies as possible to kids everywhere.
If you want to take part in Operation Selena, there is still time.
