Disney and Pixar have announced they will be making several new movies including Toy Story 4, Cars 3, Incredibles II and many others. Imagine all the toys that will be flooding the stores.
During Disney’s D23 Expo in California, the company along with Pixar, announced there will be a whole slate of new movies in the coming months and a couple of years, Wired reports. “Walt Disney studios is back,” exclaimed chief creative officer John Lasseter as he kicked off the event.
Toy Story 4 gathered quite a big interest. “At Pixar we only make sequels when we know we’ve found a story that is as good or better than the original,” says Lasseter. He revealed he and Toy Story co-creator Andrew Stanton met in secret to develop the script, to avoid anyone getting their hopes up. Lasseter will also to co-direct the film, alongside first-time director Josh Cooley. “It is a love story between Woody and Bo Peep. Woody and Buzz Lightyear head out to find Bo,” says Lasseter. “It’s very, very special. It’s a very personal story for me. It’s inspired by my wife Nancy.”
More info about Cars 3 and the Incredibles 2 will be revealed soon. But there will be some entirely new movies as well. One of them is Zootopia. The main character is a bunny police officer and the film is set in an animal-made metropolis. “One of the things I’ve always loved about Disney Animation is talking animal movies,” said Lasseter. The movie is set to be ready next spring.
Another new film is Gigantic. Disney’s “version of Jack and the Beanstalk” as Lasseter says. In this case Jack is Spanish and it focuses mainly on the music. The movie is set for 2018.
Can’t wait until then? Next year will see the release of Moana. It’s set in South Pacific and inspired by local folk stories. The Pacific Ocean is a character in the movie and has a personality. And how’s that for star power – Dwayne Johnson, aka The Rock will have a role in the film.
Not enough movies? There will be a new Inside Out short Riley’s First Date? then The Good Dinosaur which will be released this autumn. Next up is a sequel to Finding Nemo which will be called Finding Dory and will be set six months after the original and will follow Dory, Marlin and Nemo looking for Dory’s family.
Disney is also working on Coco, a movie based on the Mexican day of the dead. And there’s more! Disney is also working on new Marvel movies and will shed some more light on Star Wars soon, too. Now take a moment again, to imagine all of those stuffed animals and toys that will be really flooding the stores as the movies are released.
