The Dutch company Edukie will release its first toys during the Nuremberg toy fair. Among them we will also see their first construction toy line for Angry Birds.
Most of the new toys will make their way around Europe first. The company is also working on bringing them to the UK.
Edukie promises to offer cheaper construction sets than the rivals and with a quality that might even be better. The toys will debut a little bit ahead of The Angry Birds Movie 2 which comes out later this year.
“Angry Birds is a strong IP,” CEO Steven van Bommel told ToyNews. “Yes, it has seen a drop-off in the years since the first movie, but Rovio implemented a strategy to produce short form content, continue to develop games for the brand and now with the new movie coming for 2019, we believe it will hit the heights it did with the first film.”
The company is quite optimistic about its plans: “We are a completely new company launching to the public at Nuremberg. Next year we will surprise people with what we have, the new IP we have and the direction in which we will be going,” said van Bommel. So it’s going to be quite interesting.
