More than 50 000 toys and stuffed animals were donated to children in Los Angeles for The Family Christmas Celebration at the Fred Jordan Mission. It was the largest Christmas Toy Party in Los Angeles.
The organization has already amassed tens of thousands of toys and Was accepting even more donations from visitors. In the end, thousands of children in need got not just one or two toys. They got 12 brand new toys each!
About 10 000 people attended the event to party with Mickey and Minnie Mouse, who were special guests courtesy of Disney. Along with the toys, the children also received clothes. Their mothers received a special Christmas dinner food bag with meat, vegetables, fruit.
Quite a lot of companies took part in the event in various ways. Most donated toys or money for toys and clothes. Others helped with additional stuff. Universities, Churches, stores, institutions and other types of companies were amongst the donators. The Fred Jordan Mission has been open 365 days a year since 1944. It is a non-profit, faith-based, educational and relief organization that focuses on education, job training, and self-reliance.
It is definitely a great way to give back to the community and bring some smiles to children in need. Kudos to everyone involved!
