Mattel won 4 major categories at the annual Toy of the Year Awards. This is the first time the company wins so many awards in a single year of the event.
Mattel took home the awards in four categories: Action Figure of the Year, Game of the Year, Infant/toddler toy of the year, and Vehicle of the Year. And it wasn’t without the help of some big names.
Major movie franchises and popular characters have played a vital role in helping Mattel secure the big wins. Mattel won action figure of the year with its line of Toy Story Basic Figures which are made with Disney and Pixar.
“We are driven to empower the next generation to explore the wonder of childhood and reach their full potential. We are honoured to have been recognised by the industry with four TOTY awards – which is strong validation that we are creating toys kids love. Mattel is home to a world-class team and this is a true celebration of the work we do daily. It is also a testament to the strong support from our retail partners. These awards continue to show our momentum as New York Toy Fair begins,” said Steve Totzke, chief commercial officer of Mattel.
