Mattel aims to have 100% recycled products and packaging by 2030

Mattel aims to have 100% recycled products and packaging by 2030Mattel announced a big pledge. The company aims to have both its products and packaging 100% sustainable by 2030. And the work begins right now.

Mattel wants its products and packaging to be 100% recycled, recyclable or made out of bio-based plastics. All of this will mean much less pollution for the planet.

“Environmental sustainability is a corporate priority at Mattel and creating sustainable products and packaging is an important part of our commitment to the planet. Our dedicated cross-functional team made sustainability a key priority throughout the product and packaging design and production process. Today, we are delivering on that priority by announcing our first product made from sustainable materials and we look forward to expanding our efforts to all Mattel brands”, says Mattel chairman and CEO Ynon Kreiz in a release.

The company is starting work on this project immediately. It’s already developing its first fully sustainable toy. This is going to be the Fisher-Price Rock-a-Stack. It will get a new, fully sustainable version by the end of the first half of 2020.

After that all products will get the transformation and over the next decade they will all become much “greener”. It’s going to be a very important decade for everyone.
