Barbie is the world’s most popular and famous doll. And it will soon become a live-action movie. A movie which will star Margot Robbie in the main role.
There were rumblings about a live-action movie about Barbie for a long time. Now, they are finally starting to materialize.
ToyNews reports that Robbie will not only star in the movie, but she will also be a co-producer. The movie about Barbie is the first deal that comes from Mattel Films – the new venture of Mattel.
“Barbie is one of the most iconic franchises in the world and we are excited to partner with Warner Bros. Pictures and Margot Robbie to bring her to life on the big screen”, says Ynon Kreiz, chairman and CEO of Mattel to ToyNews.
“This project is a great start to our partnership with Ynon and Mattel Films,” said Toby Emmerich, chairman, Warner Bros. Pictures Group. “And, Margot is the ideal producer and actress to bring Barbie to life on screen in a fresh and relevant way for today’s audiences.”
“Playing with Barbie promotes confidence, curiosity and communication throughout a child’s journey to self-discovery”, Margot Robbie, added.
So far the plot of the movie remains hidden. It will probably introduce us to the story of Barbie and then some kind of an adventure or challenge will arise.
