The National Toy Hall of Fame announced the three new inductees for 2018. The Magic 8 Ball, the Pinball machine and Uno are the new winners.

The Magic 8 Ball needed seven tries and it finally joins the Hall of Fame. Joining are Uno and pinball, which was represented by the cover of RePlay magazine.

At a ceremony Thursday, officials revealed the winning playthings from among 12 finalists for 2018: American Girl dolls, chalk, Chutes and Ladders, the Fisher-Price Corn Popper, Magic 8 Ball, Masters of the Universe, pinball, the sled, tic-tac-toe, Tickle Me Elmo, Uno and Tudor Electric Football. All of them were nominated by the people.

Then experts join and make the final selection. It’s based on popularity, longevity and influence on other toys and the market.

The Magic 8 Ball was created in 1946. The card game Uno was invented by an Ohio barbershop owner almost 50 years ago. And the origins of the Pinball date to an 18th century French table game.

The nominated toys which didn’t win, can try again next year along with the new entries.
