Kickstarter becomes a go-to place for new games to get fundingThese days people can get funding for almost anything thanks to the Internet. Platforms like Kickstarter are go-to places for new toys and games, ToyNews reports.

Kickstarter announced that for the 10 years since 2009, the gaming sector has pulled in over $1 billion in pledges. Those money went to almost 17 000 game-related projects on the site.

This works out at almost $60 000 on average per project. The tabletop gaming is the most popular sector with 69% of the funding with $686 million in total. Video games are second with $236 million.

Of course not all projects attract equal attention. One of the most funded one is Exploding Kittens which attracted $8.8 million in funding. Next up is Kingdom Death: Monster 1.5 as this game got $12.4 million.

So, Kickstarter is definitely worth a shot if you have a good idea for a new game or even toys. If you present it well and it sparks interest, you could attract well more than initial funding to get the ball rolling. Doing that is no easy task, though. The competition is huge, so you have to have a really good idea and present it really well in order to attract donators.
