Some stuffed animals have very nice and fluffy fur. After a wash they can lose their softness and fluffiness but don’t worry. There are a few ways to bring it back.
All you need is some patience and a little work and you can make your stuffed animals fluffy again. Here are a few ideas.
The obvious one would be to chuck the toy into the dryer and use fabric softener while in the washing machine. That is not always a good idea though.
First the softener can actually make things worse if it is not for the right kind of material. The same goes with the dryer. If you go with too hot of a setting you can harm the materials on the toy. So unless there is a clear label on the toy that shows what it can withstand, it is best to avoid softeners and dryers.
So here’s how to make stuffed animals fluffy after cleaning
A classic way is to get a towel and rub the fur. Get a soft comb and use it to comb the fur as it dries up but it is still damp. When you see it is returning to its original shape simply leave the stuffie to air-dry completely. Keep checking it from time to time and use the towel to soak up damp or rough spots and recomb them.
Another way is to use a hair dryer. Also get a comb and style the fur as it dries up. You can simply comb it for it to return to it’s normal state and be even more fluffy. For rougher or shorter fur you can also use your fingers instead of a comb or a brush.
There are stuffed animals that can’t be washed in a washing machine though. For example they have electronics that should not be wet. So how to groom such stuffed animals?
One way is to use a steam cleaner. Set it on a low or medium setting and give the toy a good clean. You can use the brush accessory to fluff the fur and groom it as you please.
If the stuffed animal is not too dirty, you can simply use a vaccum cleaner. It will vacuum the dust from the toy and it will give the fur a nice treatment. You can use the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner for added effect.
With these simple tips you should be able to restore the stuffie back to it’s fluffy glory. Read for cuddling.
