It’s that time of the year where everyone makes forecasts about various things and trends for the next year. This includes the toy market. What will be the most anticipated toys for 2018? Let’s find out.
This year we had several big hits. From the summer hit of the fidget spinner to the all-year hit in the face of the Fingerlings.
So, what will the new hot toys be? Well, one thins is certain – there’s a lot of great toys to choose from. This year the interactive toys really kicked into gear and we expect this to continue.
Romper has an interesting forecast about the most anticipated toys for 2018, too. It places the new Fingerlings as one of the top toys of 2018. Recently WowWee introduced three new Fingerlings that are exclusive to Toys R Us and Walmart. The company also released eight two-toned fingerlings.
A lot of kids couldn’t get these toys for Christmas because they were mostly sold out. This creates a lot of desire for them in 2018.
On the other hand, it was a difficult year for Barbie. Mattel will try to change that in 2018 and draw (oh) more interest to the popular doll. So, this might happen with the new Barbie Crayola line. It will feature interesting outfits which kids can design and color themselves. So, it’s a toy line that should inspire creativity and this is always great.
There’s a lot more great toys coming
You can also expect Funko’s POP collection to once again be on the top spots. Especially since it will release a vast line of Lord of the Rings figures with more than 10 characters. They should hit the stores between February and March 2018, so keep your eyes peeled.
Melissa & Doug are famous for their stuffed animals. And while these will continue, the toy company is also adding new huge cardboard playsets. Kids will be able to play with a Medieval Castle, a Food Truck, Country Cottage and a Firetruck. All of these are meant for indoor play and have lots of cool details to foster creativity and pretend play.
Of course, Star Wars toys will once again be among the top of the list. Spin Master is working on a near full-scale BB-8 droid from Star Wars. The droid is 16 inches tall and can follow you around the room. You can control it with voice, it will respond with voice and sounds. This is for sure going to be quite the popular toy.
And then there’s the unknown. In 2017 no one predicted the popularity of the fidget spinners and of the Fingerlings. So, one thing is certain – the above anticipated toys will have more strong competition from other toys that no one expects. And this is what always makes the toy world interesting.
