Hasbro has donated more than half a million toys for the Global Day of Joy. The company also allowed its 5000 employees to volunteer as elves.
The total value of the donations is about $6 million, ToyNews reports. Overall Hasbro has donated over half a million toys to a huge array of charity organizations.
All of them have one goal. To help children in need and bring them at least some smiles and comfort.
“Philanthropy is part of our DNA at Hasbro; it’s part of what makes this such a special company and rewarding place to work,” said Brian Goldner, Hasbro’s chairman, president and CEO.
Charity team effort
All of Hasbro’s 5000 employees are also encourage to donate some of their time to the local communities. They acted as elves, helping bring the toys to the charity organizations and the kids
“During our Global Day of Joy, we rally all of our employees globally around our purpose, to make the world a better place for children and their families. I can’t think of a more powerful way to celebrate the holiday season”, Goldner says.
The Global Day of Joy takes place in about 40 countries around the world. Quite a lot of people take part in the event. This year Hasbro teams the event with its Be Fearless Be Kind initiative, too. It aims to empower kids to have empathy, compassion and courage to stand up for others.
