It wasn’t thousands of stuffies as hockey games, but for a first – it was still a great turnout.

The Teddy Bear Toss event is usually known for US and Canada hockey clubs. But the charity event is now gaining popularity in Europe as well.

Fans of Dutch soccer club (called football in Europe) ADO Den Haag held their own Teddy Bear Toss. Well, they didn’t call the event like that.

Actually, they didn’t have any names for the charity event. They simply organized and agree to bring stuffed animals.

The fans had their own twist on the traditional Teddy Bear Toss. Instead of throwing them onto the field, they threw them onto the fans of the home team Feyenoord which were sitting below them.

Hundreds of stuffed animals rained onto the fans as they applauded before the kick-off. The fans of the home team then organized and collected all of the stuffed animals.

The toys will go to children from Rotterdam’s Sophia Children’s Hospital. This is the oldest children’s hospital in the Netherlands.

We hope the event will spread among other European football clubs as well. It’s a great way to unite fans and have them enjoy the game better while bringing children in need some much needed smiles.
