If you’re an adult and still keep your favorite stuffed animal in your bed, then you’re not the only one. Million of people do it and experts ponder.
Is if bad if an adult still keeps a teddy bear? Well, WeelAndGood.com has gathered some of the experts’ thoughts.
First, let’s remind ourselves that a 2017 US study showed that around 40% of adults still sleep with a teddy bear. “In most instances, adults sleep with childhood stuffed animals because it brings them a sense of security and reduces negative feelings, such as loneliness and anxiety”, says therapist Margaret Van Ackeren, LMFT.
MD Tracey Jones on the other hands says all of this depends on each different person. If, for example, you can’t even travel if you don’t bring your teddy bear, then it might be a problem. Basically, if the desire to have your plush friend impede on your life in any way, it may be a red flag.
But, if your plushies are just something fun or cute, or a nice hobby and they don’t get in the way of your life and relationships, then all is well. You can still “wean” yourself from the need to have your furry friend around you at all times, especially if you feel like it’s an important part of your sleep. This way you can sleep easier and still have your plush pal around. It’s a win-win.
