Disney's Doc McStuffins will expand into a big initiative

As we know, Disney will be making a new animated series for Doc McStuffins – the stuffed animals vet. There will be plenty more stuff like ebooks, apps and much more. Doc McStuffins will expand into a big initiative that goes beyond a simple animated show.

Broadway World reports that Disney views the show as a “programming event”. It will highlight the importance of taking proper care and responsibilities. The show is made in collaboration with The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Solid Gold Holistic Pet Food and Nationwide. It will premiere on Friday, August 14th, on Disney Channel and Disney Juniour at 9 AM ET.

But that is only the start of Doc McStuffins’ expansion. Disney Junior’s site will feature a special Pet Care check list to help children take proper care of their own pets. A music video and a separate song about Doc McStuffins will also premiere. Then there will be a short-form series about Stuffy, the Doc’s toy dragon and Squibbles – her new pet

And even that is not all. The day before the TV show premiers, the Disney Junior Appisodes app for iOS will debut a full “Stuffy and Squibbles” episode with interactive elements like helping the Doc diagnose and treat Squibbles. Then on Aug 20th, a new mobile game, called “Doc McStuffins: Pet Vet” will debut on the App Store.

Still need more? Disney Publishing Worldwide will be making several print and ebook titles about Doc McStuffins. The first one will be available on Aug 4th and it will be a collectible storybook with original artwork – Dragon’s Best Friend. There will be a different book on September 1st, then another one on October 6th.

The Peabody Award-winning animated “Doc McStuffins” series has been lauded globally for its imaginative storytelling about a young girl who aspires to be a doctor like her mom and runs a clinic for stuffed animals and toys. Through Doc and her toys, the series models good health practices while imparting to young viewers the importance of taking care of oneself and others.
