Disney teases new plans for Star Wars and Marvel movies

Disney teases new plans for Star Wars and Marvel moviesDisney has a lot on its plate at the moment. But that isn’t stopping the company to plan for more. So, Disney teased some new plans for Star Wars and Marvel.

Bob Iger, who is the boss of Disney, teased the plans for the company beyond 2019. Up until now we know that Disney is planning to have a new Star Wars movie almost every year.

Star Wars: Episode IX will debut and 2019 and there were rumors that this would be the end of the saga. “I had a meeting yesterday with Kathy Kennedy, the boss of Lucasfilm, and we mapped out – well, we reviewed, the Star Wars plans we have until 2020”, Iger revealed.

Star Wars and Superheroes galore

Will this be another Star Wars movie or a spin-off? Iger is not commenting on this. It’s quite possibly that the final decision will be based on how the spin-off perform. Fans so far are receiving Rogue One well.

Iger notes that the writer has already been hired and is working on the 2020 Star Wars project. “We have movies in development for Star Wars until then, and we started talking about what we’re going to do in 2021 and beyond”, he adds. So, brace yourselves, the Star Wars saga will continue for quite some time. Probably until fans have had more than enough… There will be quite a lot of toys and stuffed animals to come along with the movies, that’s for sure.

The same goes for the Marvel cinematic universe. Iger confirmed that Disney has mapped out plans for Marvel movies until 2020 already. “We too are beginning to talk about what we do the next decade, and so on”, Iger added. This will be a lot of movies about superheroes. This means a lot of toys, stuffed animals and action figures too. With DC Comics having similar plans no doubt, there’s the risk of overdoing it and turning fans away from so many superhero and Star Wars movies in such a short amount of time.
