On September 1st Disney will hold the second ever Force Friday. It’s the day when the main wave of Star Wars toys will hit the stores.
And this year is shaping up to be even more interesting. Disney announced that it’s going to have a special augmented reality scavenger hunt during Force Friday II.
Force Friday II begins with special store openings on Friday Sept. 1st at 12:01 AM. Don’t worry, despite the name, the special event continues all the way through Sunday, September 3rd.
The AR feature is called Find the Force. There are physical displays in various stores selling the new toys. According to Disney about 20 000 stores in 30 countries around the world will take part in Force Friday II.
Each retailer will have up to 5 different displays with characters from the newest Star Wars movies. With a special mobile app fans can scan the displays and see a special augmented reality feature.
The more characters you unlock, the more promotional items like special clips and emojies you will receive. Of course the main attraction of Force Friday II are the Star Wars-related toys.
You can expect toys from a lot of manufacturers. Action figures, stuffed animals, robots, board games, apparel, accessories and many, many more. LEGO is also working on several new sets.
And those are just the toys that won’t, or at least shouldn’t, spoil the story or characters in the movie. These toys will arrive with the second wave which is around and after the debut of the movie. Star Wars: the Last Jedi will hit the cinemas on December 15th, 2017.
