If you like Character Options’ Teletubbies toys, then you’re in for a treat. The company extended its contract to continue making toys for the characters.
The deal will now run until at least 2020. Character Options has the worldwide manufacturing rights for Teletubbies toys, including plush.
The company also has the UK distribution rights for the toys. The distribution for other countries around the world will be handled by different companies.
DHX Brands, the owners of Teletubbies, say they are pleased with the success of the current toy range. That’s why they are giving the greenlight for even more toys.
New Teletubbies and Tiddlytubbies toys are already in development. The first new plastic and plush toys will make their way to the stores very soon.
The Teletubbies toys are the top selling new toy property in the UK for the last year. And sales this year are already up 23% in units and 36% in value.
“As we continue to grow the overall licensing programme for Teletubbies, it is imperative that we build on the strong sales of core categories. Character Options has done a superb job with the toy line and we are excited about the new product to come that will complement the current broadcast season.We are confident that our continued relationship will see Teletubbies toys go from strength to strength at retail”, Tom Roe, commercial director at DHX Brands said to ToyNews.
