Mattel unveiled a new Barbie doll and career for her. Now she’s also a judge. A court judge, not on a reality show. Barbie Judge is also for charity.
Barbie Judge is also Mattel’s 2019 Career of the Year doll. It coincides with a partnership with GoFundMe for a special project.
That project wants to help girls with self-doubt about their career choices. The partnership will be on time for the first anniversary of the Barbie Dream Gap Project.
“Recent research shows starting at age five, many girls begin to develop limiting self-beliefs. They stop believing their gender can do or be anything. This critical time in girls’ development when they begin losing confidence is called the Dream Gap. The Dream Gap creates barriers for girls to reach their full potential, which can negatively affect and inhibit their future trajectory or career choice”, Mattel says on the GoFundMe page.
The new Barbie Judge doll comes in time for the campaign, too. It also has an important message. Mattel says only 33% of sitting US state judges are female. So, the company wants to inspire more girls to choose that profession.
Barbie Judge comes in four versions with different styles. This way all girls can have one that is to their preferences. And collectors have four to add to their collections.
