Barbie and The National Geographic announced a new partnership which will see the launch of a new toy line. It will highlight occupations in science where women are underrepresented.
Barbie and the National Geographic will both develop new dolls and play-sets. They will focus on professions like Polar Marine Biologist, Wildlife Photojournalist, Wildlife Conservationist and a lot more.
All of the new dolls and sets will focus on exploration, science, conservation and research, ToyNews reports. The play-sets will also have relevant accessories.
“Barbie allows girls to try on new roles through storytelling by showing them they can be anything and, through our partnership with National Geographic, girls can now imagine themselves as an Astrophysicist, Polar Marine Biologist and more,” said Lisa McKnight, senior vice president and general manager, Barbie.
Barbie will also have special related contend on the YouTube channel. “Helping people understand the world is, and always has been, the core purpose of National Geographic,” said Susan Goldberg, editor in chief of National Geographic magazine and editorial director of National Geographic Partners.
You can expect the first dolls from the new line to be ready in the fall of this year.
