Angel Bears of Hope gives stuffed animals to seriously sick people

Angel Bears of Hope gives stuffed animals to seriously sick peopleAngel Bears of Hope is a charity organization that for 25 years gives out stuffed animals to children an adults who battle serious illnesses. It was started by Maralee Halterman after surviving battle with breast cancer.

To this day she has spent an enormous amount of time and effort for her Angel Bears of Hope organization which has a pretty straightforward goal. It wants to give an angel bear, which is a custom teddy bear with wings designed by Halterman, to children and adults who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening disease or condition.

Just for February 2016 alone, the organization managed to deliver 335 angel bears to Minnesota, Chicago, St. Petersburg, Fla and many other locations for children fighting cancer. For April 2016 Angel Bears of Hope will be able to distribute more than 2000 angel bears thanks to donations.

“When I found out I was going to be OK after my cancer treatments, I thought that I must have had a guardian angel watching over me,” Halterman said to MyWebTimes. “So when I discovered the toy angel bear, I thought it would bring some comfort and some small hope to other patients in similar serious health situations.”

Over the years her at first modest idea has grown to a full- scale project. Today Angel Bears of Hope no longer buys teddy bears from the stores to customize. It is impractical and too expensive. Instead, the charity organization is now collecting monetary donations and uses the funds to order the manufacturing of custom Angel Bears from an overseas company.
