A family in Siouxland managed to collect 1400 stuffed animals for charity. They will give the toys to children in the local hospital.
This is the 4th Annual Mike Ruehle Bear Drive. The Ruehe family helds it since 2014 after one member passed away from cancer.
Mike Ruehe passed away after a 12-year battle with cancer. He and his family spent a lot of time in the hospital and have seen and experienced a lot.
As a way to honor Mike, his family decided to give something back to the hospital. So, they started the Bear Drive. So far they collected more than 1400 stuffed animals. All of them are going to kids at the hospital.
The family accepts brand new stuffed animals with the tag still on them. This is important, since the toys are going into a hospital and must be as clean as possible.
There are several places where you can drop off stuffed animals. They are Siouxland Center for Active Generations, Ruehle Family Chiropractic, I Heart Media studios and Security National bank.
This year the Bear Drive expands beyond the local hospital. Some of the toys will go to local agencies and other hospitals, too. You have until the end of the month to donate if you want.
