When you want to do something good, age is not a factor. A 5-year-old boy donated teddy bears to the local police in Pittsburg for children in need.
Jackson Sellmeyer is from McAlester, Oklahoma. He’s made the special donation to the Pittsburg County Sheriff’s Office, NewsOn6 reports.
Jackson decided he has enough toys and teddy bears. For his 5th birthday he asked not toys for him. Instead, he asked his friends to bring him teddy bears which he can donate to the local police.
His friends did so. And the news got out, so three local churches and a woman from the area also donated teddy bears. “She handmade these teddy bears and brought us ten or 12 and she said, ‘I’ll go make you some more and bring more up,’” Sheriff Chris Morris said.
Jackson also brought quite a few teddy bears. Some of them were quite big. “You can just tell he’s a good kid,” said Sheriff Morris. “It’s pretty neat. It’s touching.”
Police officers say the teddy bears are really helpful. “If you get out on a car wreck and mom or daddy’s hurt, even if the child’s hurt a little bit, and you give them a bear, it helps put a smile on their face,” said Morris.
Until now, the officer were buying the teddy bears themselves. Now they have quite a few stuffies. They even gave one to Jackson as a thanks. It was a special bear which was dressed as a police officer.
